Past District Governor 2014-2015 Rosemary Wenham
Rosemary was born in Adelaide and grew up in and around Elizabeth, she was educated at Elizabeth East Primary before attending Elizabeth Girls Technical High School. After leaving high school Rosemary started her career with the Bank of Adelaide.
Rosemary married at 20 and moved firstly to Gladstone and then to the Barossa Valley with her husband who was in Local Government. She has three children, Chris, Andrew, Alison and step children Andrew and Lucy together with 8 wonderful grandsons.
During her time in Lyndoch Rosemary was instrumental in establishing the local playgroup, followed by lobbying for a mobile kindy to obtaining a donation of land and then gaining the funding to build a full Kindergarten.
After working at Chateau Yaldara where she worked her way up from being a casual waitress, whilst working around her children, to managing the Motel and Reception Centre. Rosemary then moved back to Adelaide and after working in various industries as a bookkeeper decided the time was right to establish her own business. She started this slowly and today is the owner of Bookkeeping On The Go, with the name saying it all.
Whilst for a time life got in the way, Rosemary has always maintained her passion for those around her. This is even more noticeable now. With a brother who died far too young from a heart attack, a disabled grandson (Nate is a beautiful little boy with both Downs Syndrome and Autism), to a mother who was in a dementia unit, she is passionate about the disabled and disadvantaged and is committed to “giving back to the community” and believes that her association with Lions International is the appropriate vehicle for her to do this.
Rosemary was the Chairman/Coordinator since the inception of the Norwood Branch of the Burnside Lions Club in 2009. She was then elected as the Charter President of the Norwood Lions Club and has sponsored at least 7 new members for Norwood Lions and is a very active member of her club, continuing to work with and for her community in the various activities and projects that they successfully carry out.
Rosemary is a Certified Guiding Lion and has attended the Senior Lions Leadership Institute. Due to her dedication to Lions, Rosemary has been awarded an International President’s Certification of Appreciation from IPIP Sid Scruggs III and has a Melvin Jones Fellowship.
To those of you that don’t know her, or are in fact colour blind, she is particularly partial to PINK. From her hair, nails, “several” handbags, business cards and a couple of fantastic hot pink walls in her office. She believes that in all modesty she does Pink well. But does the colour she prefers define her as a person, she certainly doesn’t believe so.
